13 AANLA Cadres Surrendered In Karbi Anglong, Assam CM Confirms, lay down arms
13 All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres surrendered at Bokajan PS Karbi Anglong in Assam on 8 May. They deposited a cache of arms and ammunition.
Around 13 terrorists of the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) surrendered to the security forces at Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on the evening of Sunday, 8 May.

All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres deposited arms and ammunition, four AK series rifles and five pistols along with a revolver.
A police officer at the gathering said, “All senior officers of Assam Police, Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) had gathered at the Bokajan Police Station in Assam for a weapon-laying and surrender program.
Central Range DIG Sathyaraj Hazarika said, “Following the appeal by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to make Assam a terrorism-free state, the Indian Army and other security forces were engaged in various efforts to bring with us all-tribal national liberation. Army (AANLA) cadre in the mainstream. After our efforts, the AANLA cadres agreed to come forward and today 13 of them (AANLA cadre) laid down their arms.”
Central Range DIG Sathyaraj Hazarika said that at least 13 cadres of ANLA laid down their arms on May 8 and all 13 cadres have deposited four AK series rifles, five pistols, one revolver and several rounds of ammunition.

The organization demands Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the tribal community and rehabilitation of displaced members of their community. However, official sources indicate that the ANLA is not a well-organized group and does not have well-intentioned aims and objectives.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to inform about the same. He tweeted, “Continuing our peace march, I am happy to inform that 13 cadres of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) today marched to Bokajan PS in the presence of officers of Assam Police, Assam Rifles and Assam Rifles. Have surrendered at Karbi Anglong. CRPF. All 13 AANLA cadres have put down their arms and ammunition.”
The All Tribal National Liberation Army (AANLA) was formed in the second half of 2006. The AANLA claims to fight to protect the tribal culture of plantation workers, whose ancestors were brought from northern India by British colonists.
