4 kids among 12 killed in last 24 hours, more than 54 lakh people affected
The flood situation in Assam on Wednesday continued to be severe as 12 people, including four children, died in the last 24 hours. These deaths have increased the death toll from this year’s floods and landslides to 100.
Four people died in the Hojai district, two in Kamrup and three in Barpeta and Nalbari. More than 547,000 people are affected in 4941 villages in 32 districts.
A total of 845 relief camps and 1025 relief distribution centers have been set up by the district administration of the affected districts, evacuating more than 271,000 people.

Fire and emergency personnel took action after the flood situation worsened in the Chiran district on Wednesday.

Bajli, Baksa, Barpeta, Vishwanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Chirang, Darang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj The areas of Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri were flooded.

Water level above the danger mark
Over 99,026 hectares of crops have been damaged by this year’s flood wave. The water levels of the Kopili, Disang , and Brahmaputra rivers flow above the danger marks in many places.
Apart from the Army, National Disaster Response Forces (NDRF), State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF), and Assam Police Fire and Emergency Services are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
The Army continued its rescue and rescue operations in the districts of Darrang, Barpeta and Kamrup. At least seven joint military teams are working 24 hours a day to contact flood victims and provide relief and medicine to remote flood-affected areas.

Prime Minister visits Nagaon
Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Salma also visited Nagaon by train to confirm the situation. He traveled by boat to various areas affected by the flood and interacted with people evacuated to relief camps at Kampur University and Raha High School.

He also interacted with the flood-affected people evacuating to Chaparmukh Station. Salma met the flood-affected families at a temporary relief camp along the national highway in Nelly, Morigaon district, and promised them as much support as possible. The Prime Minister may visit Cachar’s Silchar on Thursday to get an idea of the situation.

Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the relief camp of Phulaguri High School in Kapili Block, Nagaon district, to interact with the affected people.
She visited the flood relief camp today and interacted with people to learn about relief assistance at Nagaon’s Phulguri HS School.
