A woman in Tripura beheaded her husband at midnight
Tripura police have arrested a 40-year-old woman from her home in Indira Colony in Kawai district of Tripura for beheading her 50-year-old husband, stuffing his head into a bag and hanging it inside their residence.
According to the report, the woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death at around 2 am, killed him with a traditional Tripuri knife and beheaded him. It is learned that the woman named Savitri Tanti was sitting next to the body of her slain husband Rabindra Tanti with the weapon of murder all night.
The woman’s brother and her two minor children were also present inside the house, who woke up to the horrific scene. The eldest son saw his father’s beheaded body lying on the floor of their living room. A Khowai police official said he fled the scene and informed police.
A police team has reached the spot to arrest him. A local court has remanded the woman in judicial custody, police said.
According to the couple’s eldest son, his mother had recently developed a mental disorder and was being treated by a local witch.
“My mother was always a vegetarian. But last night he ate chicken, and we all went to sleep. Suddenly I woke up and saw that my father had been beheaded. I was shocked to see my mother standing there drenched in blood (a sharp weapon). When we set the alarm, he came out of the house and put my father’s head in our prayer room, “said the eldest son.
Speaking to media, a senior state police officer said that the initial investigation revealed that the couple had no domestic problems. He added that some people had informed the local police that the woman had been showing signs of mental instability for the past few days. He has no history of mental health problems, police said.
