Amit Shah said that for the first time after independence, people living in hilly areas of Manipur have realized that there is a central government which thinks about their welfare.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded the BJP government for bringing peace and all-round development in Manipur in the last five years and said there has been a significant improvement in the law and order situation in the state.
Laying the foundation stone of Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Manipur, Shri Shah said that the Central Government and the N Biren Singh Government in Manipur have made tremendous improvements in the law and order situation, education, power and others. infrastructure sector.

“Before coming to power in Manipur, we had promised to end bandh, strike and blockade. We have abolished all three and have significantly improved the law and order situation in Manipur,” he said.

The Home Minister said that if a comparison is made between the development in Manipur in the last five years and the development in the state in the last 70 years, more progress can be seen in the last five years.

The BJP first came to power in Manipur in 2017.

Shri Shah said that for the first time after independence, the people living in hilly areas of Manipur have realized that there is a central government which thinks about their welfare.

He said people living in the hills got to see electricity and gas connections, free toilets and establishment of schools.

“The governments of Narendra Modi and Biren Singh brought all these developments. I am sure the people of Manipur will again elect the BJP government in Manipur,” he said.

While Manipur Chief Minister, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda and other dignitaries attended the event in Imphal, Shah addressed it via video conferencing from Delhi.

The museum project has been approved by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.

Queen Gaidinliu was born on January 26, 1915. At the age of 13, she became engaged to Haipou Jadonang, a spiritual leader and political activist from Manipur, and became his lieutenant in his social, religious and political movement.

His four-year association with Mr Jadonang, which began around 1926, prepared him to become a fighter against the British.

After Mr. Jadonang was hanged by the British in 1931, Ms. Gaidinliu took over the leadership of the movement.

After Jadonang’s martyrdom, Ms Gaidinliu started a rebellion against the British, for which she was imprisoned by the British for 14 years and finally released in 1947.

He was released from Tura Jail (Meghalaya) after India got independence.

Queen Gaidinliu died on February 17, 1993.
