The Muslim woman reportedly went to the store to buy earphones but was allegedly kicked out for wearing jeans instead of a burqa.
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a mobile store in Assam’s Bishwanath Chariali allegedly kicked a Muslim woman for wearing jeans instead of a burqa.
The shop belonged to a Nurul Amin where a Muslim woman went to buy earphones.
The woman was allegedly ‘insulted’ by shop owner Nurul Amin for wearing jeans even though she belonged to a Muslim family. The shop is located near the Daily Bazaar in Ward 12 of Bishwanath and sells mobile accessories.
According to locals, this is not the first time that Nurul Amin has commented on a girl’s dress and has a record of insulting girls for not wearing a burqa.
The father of the woman who was evicted immediately rushed to the mobile store to protect her daughter and object to the store owner’s move.
However, the incident took a bad turn when the woman’s father was assaulted by Nurul Amin’s son. It is learned that Nurul Amin is a resident of Nagaon and lives in a rented house in Bishwanath.
Police have registered a case against Nurul Amin and his son and arrested the two.
