another 60 villages will be included in Bodoland Territorial Area
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on Thursday.
At least 60 more villages will be included in the Bodoland Territorial Area (BTR) in Assam.
Of the 60 new villages to be included in the BTR, 43 will be revenue villages and 13 will be forest villages.
These villages will be from Dhekiajuli, Sutia, Biswanath, Behali and Gohpur areas of Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, during his Republic Day speech on Thursday, said, “As per the Bodo accord, villages with 80% Bodo population will be included in the BTR.”
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro has welcomed the announcement of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
BTC chief Pramod Boro said, “Thank you CM Sarma for your gift to BTR in the form of implementation of clauses of BTR peace accord on this Republic Day.”
The Chief Minister of Assam also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the martyrs of the 2001 Bodoland movement.
