Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and top state officials have visited the Indian border with Tibet, including Yangtze, where Chinese troops are said to have infiltrated a few days ago.

An official spokesman said the chief minister had traveled to a remote outpost in Tawang district to thank the troops for boosting their morale and forcing them to withdraw People’s Liberation Army personnel from Indian territory.

There have been reports of recent clashes between Indian and Chinese troops at the Yangtze border post.

“We are safe because you protect our borders with utmost sincerity. The people of India, especially in Arunachal Pradesh and especially in Tawang district, will be forever indebted to you, ”Mr Khandu observed while interacting with troops at Chuna on the international border that he prefers to say“ Indo-Tibet ”.

Development of border areas
The Center and the states have given priority to the development of border areas and the pace of infrastructure construction has accelerated in recent years, he said.

Mr Khandu blamed the push for border infrastructure rather than an integrated approach to independent projects pursued by agencies such as the Border Roads Organization, the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and state government departments.

Four more companies of Arunachal Scouts, an infantry regiment of the Army based in the state, will be raised to defend the border, he added. The Arunachal Scout currently has two battalions.

Yangtze’s first post as chief minister began on October 24 with a three-day visit with Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Planning Commissioner Prashant Lokhand. He has touched the border villages of Chu, Mago and Thingbu.

He also visited the Yankee-1 border outpost where there are 108 waterfall Buddhist sites and a war memorial at Tullung Lat.
