In the light of China’s expansionist policy, Rinpoche said it was important for India to deal with it and keep a close watch on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with neighboring countries.

New Delhi: The head of the 350-year-old Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh, Jeongbang Rinpoche, says that China has no right to choose the next Dalai Lama, especially since the nation does not believe in religion. He said that the selection of the next Dalai Lama is a purely spiritual process.

In the light of China’s expansionist policy, Rinpoche said it is important for India to deal with it and keep a close watch on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with neighboring countries.

He said that the contemporary Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people have the right to choose the next Tibetan spiritual leader, and that China has no role in the succession.

Rinpoche said, “The Chinese government does not believe in religion. How can a government that does not believe in religion decide the next Dalai Lama. Planning a legacy is a matter of religion and faith, not a political issue.” ” was cited in its report.

“China does not have the right to participate in the process of choosing the next Dalai Lama. Only the current Dalai Lama and his followers have the right to decide on it,” he said.

Rinpoche’s remarks about the succession of the next Dalai Lama came amid tensions between the two countries following the eastern Ladakh border standoff. India has stated in its policy that the state of Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and integral part of the country.
