Assam boy designs sensor-enabled smart shoe for visually impaired people
To help the visually impaired, a young boy from Assam’s Karimganj district has designed a sensor-enabled smart shoe.
Ankur Karmakar, a class 9 student of Rowlands Memorial High School in Karimganj district, has designed a smart shoe that allows visually impaired people to stay safe from obstacles in their path while walking.
“I made this smart shoe for blind people. If an obstacle comes in the way of a blind person, the shoe sensor will detect the obstacle and give a buzzer alert. When the buzzer will ring, the visually impaired person will be able to hear it and he can be alert and act accordingly to avoid the obstacle,”.
Karmakar also said that he was inspired to design the smart shoe by a man from Great Britain who also made a similar shoe.
