
First wave of Assam floods affected 24,000 people in 6 districts, killing three people
As of Saturday, a total of 24,681 people in 94 villages in six districts – Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) – had been affected by the floods, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority said.
Three people, including a woman, died in a landslide incident in the Haflong area of Dima Hasao district as Assam was hit by the first wave of floods this year, the state disaster management authority said on Sunday.

Assam, along with neighboring Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya has seen incessant rains in the past few days as water levels of several rivers gradually rose and water in the Kopili river flowed above danger levels, ANI news agency reported.

Floodwaters have submerged 1732.72 hectares of cropland in the affected districts.
