Assam Rifle Raising Day 2022 and 5 interesting facts about Assam rifles

Asam Rifles Raising Day 2022 marks the 187th Asam Rifles Raising Day, which is also India’s oldest paramilitary force. Throughout its rich history, Assam Rifles has been involved in a number of roles and conflicts, including in the First and Second World Wars.

In India, Assam Rifle Day is celebrated every year on March 24 to commemorate and honor Assam rifles, which served the country in several conflicts, including both world wars. Asam Rifles Raising Day 2022 marks the 187th Asam Rifles Raising Day, which is also India’s oldest paramilitary force. It dates back to 1835, when the British Raj ruled.

The name Assam Rifles has been used since 1917, and like the Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir, in the northeastern states of India, the Assam Rifles are specialized forces conducting mutual insurgent operations in the difficult terrain of the northeastern region.

Assam Rifle Celebration Day is celebrated every year on March 24th. Assam Rifles is the oldest branch of the Indian army, dating back to 1835, when India was ruled by the British Raj. At that time it was grown under the name “Cachar Levy”. The current name ‘Assam Rifles’ has only been used since 1917.

Throughout its rich history, Assam Rifles has participated in a number of roles, conflicts and theaters. Assam Rifles was established in the Assam region in 1835 as a police unit to protect settlements against tribal raids and other attacks by the British slowly moving to northeastern India.

Assam Rifles Raising Day is celebrated every year on March 24 to appreciate the contribution of the forces and the sacrifices. This day provides an opportunity to recognize the services of the Assamese rifle in various conflicts, including World War I and World War II.

Even as various other paramilitary forces emerged in India after regaining independence, Assam Rifles maintained its position as one of the most skilled forces in the country. Other services provided by Assam Rifle also include assistance to civilians in emergencies, medical assistance, education in remote areas, communication, etc.

1. Assam Rifles is the only paramilitary force with a double control structure. This means that while the forces are controlled by the Indian Army, the remuneration and infrastructure of the forces are provided by the Ministry of Interior.

2. There are currently 46 Assam Rifles battalions with an authorized staff of 65,143.

3. Assam Rifles has been involved in a number of conflicts, including World War I, where they served in the Middle East and Europe, and World War II, where they served mainly in Burma.

4. During the war, Assam Rifles can also be used as combat forces to provide rear areas if needed.

5. Assam Rifles also served after the annexation of Tibet in China, where they were assigned to serve the Tibetan border in the Himalayan region of Assam. The forces have also helped maintain law and order in Arunachal Pradesh.
