The Srikona Battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of 21 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (East), which has been carrying out continuous flood relief and rescue operations on Sunday, rescued the six-day-old baby along with his mother.

Fighting all odds in the highly submerged area of ​​S Silchar town, personnel of the Srikona Battalion of the Assam Rifles along with Spear Corps engineer Spear rescued a six-day-old baby along with his mother.

According to the information received, on receiving an SOS call about the stranded family of the newborn, the jawans launched a quick and coordinated rescue operation to bring the infant and his family to a safe place. Notably, the baby was born on June 20, 2022.

Thus, as a positive news amidst the natural calamity, a mother and child were reunited with their family, that too in a healthy and hearty condition. Meanwhile, the family members have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their help.




Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is reaching out to the flood-affected people in every possible way.

After reviewing the flood situation in Silchar earlier in the day, the dynamic chief minister was at ground zero in Hajo, where floods have wreaked havoc.

Chief Minister Sarma reviewed the damage caused by Baralia and visited the main embankment breach point at Koyan under Hajo assembly constituency.

Besides this, the Chief Minister of Assam also reviewed the arrangements made for the people taking shelter in the relief camp at Baramboi HS School. CM Sarma also interacted with the prisoners.
