In another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Battalion Serchhip 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the auspices of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), found 55 gm of heroin worth about Rs 27,50,000 from New Champhai-Zotlang road in Champhai district in Mizoram on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the operation was carried out by a team of 8 Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police based on specific information.
Assam Rifles forces seized the illegal consignment along with Kenbo’s bicycles and detained two individuals who were handed over to Champhai police for further legal proceedings.
In another incident, the Lunglei Battalion 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the auspices of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), found ammunition and weapons in the village of Zawngling in Saiha district along the Indo-Myanmar border on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by Assam Rifles team and Mizoram Police based on specific information. The Assam Rifles team along with police representatives set up a checkpoint at the Zawngling crossing and intercepted two individuals carrying a total of 20 bullets of 12 gauge 70mm cartridges along with two NX 100 air rifles.

Two Myanmar nationals were detained in the operation. The items found and the two individuals were handed over to the Tuipang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Lunglei Battalion held a lecture on Waterborne Disease Prevention in Parva-IV village on Wednesday.
A total of 32 locals attended the same event. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness among the locals about water -borne diseases and diseases caused by microscopic organisms, such as bacteria ingested through contaminated water.
During the lecture, the public was informed about the prevention of water -borne diseases and how they can ensure the purity of water free from sand and silt.

People are advised to drink only clean and safe water and get a water purifier such as a filter.
The villagers of Parva-IV were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by AR.
