Assam Rifles seizes heroin worth Rs 7.52 crore in Manipur
The Assam Rifles on Wednesday seized 1.88 kg of heroin worth Rs 7.52 crore in Chandel district, bordering Myanmar.
Based on specific intelligence inputs, troops of the “Modi Battalion” of the Assam Rifles launched a search operation in the Old Songyang area, a paramilitary force statement said on Thursday.
After a thorough search, two cartons neatly hidden under the leaf were recovered, he said, adding that the cartons contained 188 soap cases of heroin.

The confiscated items were handed over to the Narcotics Control Board (NCB) office in Imphal on Thursday.
In another operation launched at a mobile vehicle check post along the Palel-Imphal axis in Kakching district on Wednesday and Thursday, Assam Rifles soldiers intercepted two mini trucks and recovered 137 bags of arecanut and several other contraband items.

The confiscated goods have been valued at Rs 75.23 lakh, the statement said, adding that the two smugglers along with the confiscated goods were handed over to the Customs Preventive Force in Kakching district.
