A Taliban spokesman stated on Sunday that a bomb targeting the doorway of a mosque within the Afghan capital had “killed several civilians”.
The bombs focused the Idgah mosque in Kabul the place a memorial service was being held for the mom of Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.
Nobody instantly claimed responsibility for the attack. However, since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in mid-August, attacks against them by militants of the Islamic State group have elevated. The escalation has raised the prospect of a wider battle between the 2 extremist groups.
IS maintains a strong presence within the eastern province of Nangarhar and considers the Taliban an enemy. It has claimed a number of attacks towards him, together with a number of murders within the provincial capital Jalalabad. Attacks are rare in Kabul so far.
