European Commission President Urzula von der Leiena met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev and promised additional sanctions and financial assistance. The head of the EU commission plans to hold a fundraising event for Ukraine in Warsaw today.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom and Germany promised to send more weapons. Russia has ordered the closure of Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International’s offices in the country. Its central bank unexpectedly cut interest rates and eased capital controls after the ruble recovered close to pre-war levels.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Kiev on Saturday, a senior Zelensky staff official told Reuters.
“Currently, Boris Johnson’s visit to Kiev began with an individual meeting with President Zelensky,” Andrew Sibiha, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, told Facebook.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry on Saturday accused Russian forces of leaving “tortured bodies” in the Makariv region of Kiev.
It says new war crimes are being discovered as Ukrainian rescuers move to areas liberated by Russian forces. “The city of Makariv in the Kiev region is half-ruined. “The bodies of 132 tortured and killed citizens have already been found,” it said.
