BTech students of NIT Sikkim will now be eligible for direct admission in IIT Delhi PhD program
With the latest MoU signed between the 2 institutes, BTech students from NIT Sikkim will now be eligible for direct admission to PhD programs of IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi and NIT Sikkim have recently signed a MoU under which BTech college students from NIT Sikkim will likely be eligible for direct admission to PhD programs of IIT Delhi with out the necessity to qualify GATE or any other national level examination.
The MoU, which was signed by Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi and Professor MC Govil, Director, NIT Sikkim, will also facilitate faculty and student exchange programs between the 2 institutions.
Direct Admission for NIT B.Tech Students
Graduate students of NIT Sikkim with a CGPA of 8.00 on the finish of their sixth semester (03 years) will likely be eligible to use at IIT Delhi for a summer project and their 04th year (seventh and eighth semesters, OR or So) will do.
Since they are going to enter IIT Delhi with a minimum CGPA of 8.00, the GATE requirement for Ph.D. has been waived.
They are expected to demonstrate substantial aptitude in analysis and analysis throughout their seventh and eighth semesters of B.Tech.
After finishing their fourth year at IIT Delhi, students will likely be thought of for early admission to PhD programs of the institute primarily based on their educational performance.

mentorship program
Below the MoU, a mentorship program can also be being envisaged in which faculty members from IIT Delhi will act as consultants for each department of NIT Sikkim.
It will facilitate alternate of faculty/staff on the departmental level, which could be done each online/offline. The program might also be expanded to include the creation of common virtual/physical laboratory facilities.
Together with the faculty, NIT Sikkim and IIT Delhi may even alternate BTech, MTech, MSc college students and analysis students.
IIT Delhi won’t cost any educational payment from NIT college students as they are going to be paying regular academic fees of their parent institution.
