Chinese has built a new village in Arunachal Pradesh the Pentagon
China has built a large village in a disputed area of Arunachal Pradesh and is taking increasing steps to press its demands along the Line of Actual Control, a Pentagon report to the U.S. Congress said.
The Pentagon’s annual report on Chinese military says the dialogue between India and China has made limited progress in resolving the border crisis and strongly blames the PLA for the clashes that began in May 2020, which led to bloody clashes in Galway where 21 Indian troops and one from China Unpublished number, dead.
“In early May 2020, the PLA began infiltrating traditionally Indian-controlled areas across the border and concentrating troops in several standoff positions along the LAC. In addition, a significant reserve force from the Tibet and Xinjiang military districts was rapidly deployed inside western China. To do, ”the report said.
Noting that there are ongoing diplomatic and military dialogues to reduce border tensions, the Pentagon said the Chinese side has continued to take “increasing and strategic steps to press its demands on the LAC.”
The report cites a new village set up by the Chinese government in a disputed area on the banks of the Tisari River in Arunachal Pradesh last year. Indian officials have described the PLA’s new settlement on the border as a ‘dual purpose’, which also has a potential military role.
“At some point in 2020, the PRC has built a large 100-house civilian village in the eastern sector of the LAC between the PRC’s Tibet Autonomous Region and the disputed territory in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. There has been panic in the government and in the media, ”the report said.

As reported by ET, there has been a sharp increase in Chinese activity along the LAC in the Arunachal sector since last year, with improved residential housing and communication facilities built on the Zari River near the town of Migitun, which also has improved road connectivity.
China has “tried to blame India for provoking stagnation by developing India’s enhanced infrastructure to the LAC,” the report said, citing the current stalemate as thousands of troops have been deployed on both sides of the border since last year. Claiming that its deployment to the LAC was in response to Indian provocations, Beijing refused to withdraw any forces until Indian forces withdrew from the PRC version of the LAC and halted infrastructural improvements in the area, the report said.

Regarding China’s intentions to stabilize the border, the Pentagon said Beijing has expressed a goal to prevent a larger military conflict and return to economic and diplomatic cooperation. It further noted that it had tried to “prevent India from deepening its relationship with the United States during and after the stalemate” but was unsuccessful.
