13 killed, 39 others undergoing treatment after consuming poisonous mushroom in Assam

At least 13 people died after consuming poisonous mushrooms in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Wednesday. The deceased was a resident of four districts of Upper Assam. All the victims were admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh district. Apart from these, 39 others are undergoing treatment.
AMCM superintendent Dr Prashant Dihingia told ANI that all the victims died during treatment at AMCH. Dr. Prashant Dihingia said, “13 people, including a minor, died due to consumption of poisonous mushrooms in the last seven days. A total of 39 patients were hospitalized from four districts of Upper Assam region, out of which 13 people died. happened.”
He further said that the victims belonged to Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.

Dr Dihingia said, “Most of them are from the tea plantation areas. Many people from the upper Assam region fall ill every year after consuming poisonous mushrooms.”
