More than two lakh saplings have been planted on the occasion of World Environment Day
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Sunday called upon people to live sustainably with nature by “choosing a clean and green lifestyle”.
Speaking on this year’s theme ‘One World’, CM Rio said that all citizens need to understand that the world is immutable and everyone is a part of its ecosystem.

“Choose a clean and green lifestyle and live in harmony with nature. Happy World Environment Day,” Rio said on Twitter.
The Nagaland government is starting a massive tree plantation drive across the state on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Taking a big initiative, the Fake District Planning and Development Board has planted about two lakh saplings to celebrate this day.
State Planning and Land Revenue Minister Niba Kronu also joined the campaign and called upon the people to take care of the trees planted for economic value.
A youth organization planted over 10,000 saplings suitable for 104 Angami villages in three districts of Chumukkadima, Dimapur and Kohima, while another Kohima village celebrated the day by planting 1,500 saplings.
The day is marked by extensive planting of Cherry, Ashok and Bokal trees in Sevanu village of Seminu district.

Churches across the state are carrying out tree plantation drives in their premises to create a greener environment.
The Naga Students Federation headquartered in Kohima, the apex organization of Naga students from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland also observed the day.
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June.
NSF carried out a tree plantation drive at Naga Samhita Park in Kohima in the presence of its senior leaders including cabinet ministers and MLAs.
