From October 18 Sikkim will open schools for all
Reason resolved by the department “Positivity rate of COVID 19 has come down significantly, and reopening of all sections can now be considered”.
Gangtok: The Sikkim Education Department has decided to open schools for all students from October 18. Earlier, the state government had opened schools for students above class IX from October 1, but after the upcoming Dussehra holiday, schools will open for LKG class students. Even up to eight.
The reason as resolved by the department was “Positivity rate of COVID 19 has come down significantly, and now all sections can be considered for reopening.”
In a notification issued on October 12, it mentioned, “All state government, government-aided and private educational institutions, will also reopen for students from lower kindergarten to class eight from October 18. Initially, only 50 per cent of the students should be called on alternate days with parental consent, which will be further enhanced based on monitoring of conditions.

For Central Government Institutions, the instructions issued by the Central Government will be applicable. For institutions without any specific guidelines or instructions, this circular will be applicable. The notification mentions that all the institutes will strictly follow all the permanent COVID 19 protocols.
