
BJP announces candidates for Mizoram, Telangana and Maharashtra assembly bypolls

The BJP on Sunday announced candidates for the Maharashtra, Mizoram and Telangana assembly bypolls. The BJP has fielded former Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender from Huzurabad.
“The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided the next names for the by-elections to Maharashtra, Mizoram and Telangana,” BJP national general secretary Arun Singh stated in a press release.

In June, Rajendra joined the BJP after resigning from the TRS. In May, he was dropped from the Telangana cabinet on allegations of land grabbing in Medak district. He had stated that he was unfairly targeted.
On 28 September, the Election Commission of India (ECI) introduced the polling schedule to fill vacancies in three parliamentary constituencies of the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
The Election Commission additionally introduced the schedule of by-elections to fill 30 vacancies within the assembly constituencies of varied states. As per the schedule, polling will likely be held on October 30 and counting of votes will take place on November 2.
