An official stated on Friday that the Center will send a team of experts to Mizoram, which has been looking into the rising Covid-19 cases for the previous six months.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, during a meeting with the Mizoram delegation headed by lone Lok Sabha member C. Lalrosanga on Thursday, assured {that a} team of specialists can be sent by the Center to the state besides providing financial help and medicines, the official stated.

Last month, two experts from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the regional office in Manipur and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in Delhi visited the state to assess the rising Covid-19 cases, he stated.

He stated that the Center has sanctioned Rs 44.38 crore below the Emergency COVID Response Package (ECRP), out of which Rs 19.94 crore has been released as the first installment and the remaining quantity after furnishing the detailed utilization of the primary installment by the state. will be issued.

He stated that the Center can make accessible the extremely effective COVID-19 drug Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail (MAC) free of value.

Sources within the state health division stated the northeastern state reported 1,170 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, 571 fewer than the previous day, taking the state’s tally to 94,830.

The death toll rose to 310 after three more people died of the an infection within the final 24 hours, sources stated.
