Sikkim government will ban packaged drinking water
The Sikkim government is ready to ban the sale and distribution of packaged mineral drinking water in the state.
Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang made the announcement to Gangtok on Saturday.
From January 1, there will be a complete ban on packaged mineral drinking water in the Himalayan state.
The Chief Minister of Sikkim mentioned that for the reason that state is already wealthy in pure freshwater sources, there is no such thing as a want for packaged mineral water.
Chief Minister PS Tamang mentioned, “Sikkim already has pure freshwater sources, so the individuals of the state should stay away from mineral water bottles.”
He added: “Sikkim can meet its own water needs by way of environmentally friendly initiatives.”
The announcement was made by Sikkim CM PS Tamang throughout his Gandhi Jayanti address to Gangtok on Saturday.
Notice that many tourist locations in Sikkim have already banned plastic water bottles.
