a new season. A New Beginning. And India starts a new era in ODI cricket.
Team India put up a comprehensive performance to whitewash New Zealand 3-0 on Tuesday to reach the top of the ICC ODI rankings.
India made a clean sweep in back to back ODI series at home. India blanked Sri Lanka before registering a 3–0 sweep against the Black Caps.

India ousted England, who only three days earlier had become the number one team in ODIs following India’s defeat of New Zealand in the second ODI.
Winning home bilateral ODI series has become more than just a habit for the Men in Blue. Incredibly, since 2009, India have played 27 bilateral series at home, with the team winning 24 and losing only 3.
Shubman Gill’s purple patch continued with the Indian opener hitting another century, his second of the series. Gill (112 off 78) scored his fourth ODI century to take India to a massive 385/9.
Rohit Sharma (101) also scored his 30th ODI century, ending a three-year century drought, drawing him level with former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who also scored the same number of centuries in 375 matches.

In response, New Zealand’s top order performed much better. Devon Conway (138) shared crucial partnerships but Shardul Thakur (3/45) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/62) struck regularly as the Black Caps were bowled out for 295 in 41.2 overs.
England are now behind India and New Zealand have slipped to fourth place. All three teams were tied on 113 points before Tuesday’s match, with their total points being the deciding difference.
India now have 114 rating points ahead of England’s 113, while Australia have moved up to third place with 112 rating points.
But if England win the upcoming ODI series against South Africa 3-0, they will have a chance to retain the top spot.
