Indian Army hands over missing Arunachal teenager to family

Nearly two weeks after he went missing on the border between India and China, 17-year-old teenager Miram Taron from Arunachal Pradesh was reunited with his family on Monday.

The teenager, who was handed over to the Indian Army by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China on January 27, met her parents at an event held at Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district.

“Indian Army handed over 17-year-old boy Miram Taron, brought back to India from Chinese PLA custody, to his parents at Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh on January 31. He was accorded an emotional and enthusiastic welcome by the parents and local people. ” Referred to a tweet by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army.

Taron, a resident of Jido village in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, had gone missing near the LAC on January 18.

Initially, the teenager was believed to have been abducted allegedly by the PLA when he and a friend went on a hunting trip. A tweet by Arunachal-East BJP MP Tapir Gao alleged that Taron was kidnapped from inside Indian territory, which gave rise to those theories.

But the Indian Army clarified on 27 January, the day he was handed over by the PLA, this was not the case and he “unintentionally wandered off and went missing”.
