Justin Bieber reveals facial paralysis after cancellation of shows
Singer Justin Bieber has revealed that he suffered a facial paralysis after canceling his show this week.
The 28-year-old said in an Instagram video that the condition was caused by a diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
Earlier this week, Bieber’s trial world tour, which began in February, announced that three shows would be suspended.

“As you can see, this eye is not shining. I can’t smile on this side of my face … so I have complete paralysis on this side of my face, “he said.
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is when an outbreak of shingles affects the facial nerves near someone’s ear, medical experts say.
The Canadian-born singer said in the three-minute video, “The virus attacks my ear nerves and my facial nerves, leaving my face numb.”
He was scheduled to play in Washington DC and Toronto earlier this week, with concerts planned for next week in New York and Los Angeles.
According to the US Mayo Clinic: “In addition to the painful rash on the shingles, Ramsey Hunt Syndrome can cause paralysis of the mouth and hearing loss in the affected ear.”
The Mayo Clinic says that for most people the symptoms of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome are temporary, but they can be permanent.
He told his fans to be patient, saying of his upcoming show that “physically, obviously, he’s not capable of doing them.”

He smiled and blinked, showing his 240 million followers how the right side of his face did not move.
“It’s pretty deadly, as you can see. I hope it wasn’t, but obviously my body is telling me to slow down,” he said. “I hope you understand. I will use this time for rest and relaxation and come back one hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”
Bieber added that he was doing oral exercises “to get back to normal”, but did not know how long it would take to recover.
Patients’ inability to close their eyelids can lead to eye pain and blurred vision, the agency said, adding that it is more common in people over the age of 60.
In March, the singer’s wife, Hailey Bieber, was hospitalized with a blood clot in her brain.
He later said he had a stroke and had surgery to close a hole in his heart.
