Landslide death toll rises to 8 in Arunachal Pradesh
The death toll in a landslide in Arunachal Pradesh rose to eight after the body of a missing woman was found on Friday. police gave this information.
Capital’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Jimmy Chiram said the body of 35-year-old Kusum Rai was retrieved from the debris behind Punjabi Dhaba in the city after an extensive search operation of six days.

Bodies of Nagen Burman (50) and Tapas Rai (15) were recovered from the spot and the woman was feared dead when a landslide hit their house on Sunday night.
“The search operation carried out by the National Disaster Response Force, state officials and police was disrupted due to incessant rains,” Chiram said.
Two workers of the Public Works Department were also buried in a landslide that occurred on the Ganga-July Basti road on Monday in an attempt to rescue a motorcycle stuck in the mud.
State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) sources said three people lost their lives while another was missing due to landslide in Kurung Kume district.

He said that most parts of the state have been receiving heavy rains since last few days and landslides are being reported from many districts.
Till Wednesday, nearly 3,000 people in 33 villages in 14 districts have been affected by heavy rains, leading to landslides and flood-like situations.
At least 7.6 hectares of cultivated fields have been destroyed, while 392 houses have been damaged across the state, sources said.

During a meeting on monsoon preparedness, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday had stressed on the need to put in place a robust advance warning system to prevent loss of life and property due to calamities.
He stressed that the State Emergency Operation Center should remain active round the clock during the monsoon season.
