Corcom also accused India of “occupying a large position in the United Nations through this deception” and said that the Prime Minister’s proposed visit is “not to facilitate development in the state or to confer human rights, which The people of a democratic nation are eligible”.
“The central leader who visits Manipur from time to time to continue his state victories is not a new thing,” the group alleged.

Corcom also expressed its concern over the upcoming assembly elections and frequent visits of central leaders to the state amid the pandemic, more importantly, the COVID-19 variant Omicron has been detected in the state.
It also alleged that democracy exists only in name in Manipur and a stringent law like the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958 has been implemented in the state.
Corcom said that many political parties in Manipur use AFSPA during elections for election issues and for campaigning.
