Manipur Police recover huge cache of arms ammunition in Imphal and Three arrested
Among those arrested was Prafulla Singh, a member of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF). Police said the weapons belonged to the UNLF.
Manipur police on Sunday recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition during an anti-insurgency operation in Imphal East district and arrested three people, including a member of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF).
Weapons recovered include 13 AK-56 rifles, one AK-81 and one AK-86 rifle, two M-16 series assault rifles, one RPG launcher and one live shell, 200 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and 10 rounds of 5.5 live. Ammunition
During a search operation in Whip Awang Lekai, Prafulla Singh, 43, son of UNFL member Prafulla Singh, son of L Kumar Singh, was found with cash hidden under a barn, police said, adding that Prafulla had been arrested. The weapons were banned by the UNLF, police said.
The other two arrested are Lightnjam Kumar Sinha, 47, and Wahengbam Tompok, 49, of Whip Mayai Leikai. Police said they helped Prafulla hide weapons and ammunition.

“We have received reliable information about the weapons hidden in Huikap Awang Leikai by UNLF members. A district police team led by an additional SP under my supervision immediately rushed to the spot and conducted a massive search operation which resulted in the recovery of weapons, ”said Thoubal SP Jogechandra Haobizam.
