Vrinda is the first police officer of the Narcotics Division in the history of Manipur to have received the gallantry award.
Decorated Manipur Police Th Brinda has said that she will contest the upcoming assembly elections from Imphal‘s Yaskul constituency.
Though the Additional SP has not yet announced which party she is joining, there are rumors that she may choose the BJP.
Brinda, who is yet to submit her resignation, said that she decided to enter politics to change the current system. “I could not discharge my duty at the executive level due to constant political interference,” she said, adding that her vision is to uplift the youth and the poor.
On Sunday, after police stopped an election rally in support of Brinda, a brief brawl broke out near her residence in Yashkhul birthplace. Police said the move came after Brinda failed to produce papers showing that necessary permission was taken for the rally.
Vrinda is the first police officer of the Narcotics Division in the history of Manipur to have received the gallantry award.
He was presented the Manipur Chief Minister’s Police Medal during a program organized to commemorate the 71st Independence Day.
Vrinda later returned the gallantry award in protest against the special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court in Manipur, which acquitted the former ADC chairman of Chandel Lukhosi Zoo and six others in a high profile drug hauling case in 2018. Was.
Brinda, who was the then Additional SP of the NAB police station, had led the operation, following which Lukhosei Zoo and seven others were arrested on June 19, 2018, allegedly with a huge consignment of drugs, cash. The drugs seized in the series of raids were worth more than Rs 27 crore in the international market.
