
Ministers from Meghalaya and Assam have visited the inter-state border
Shillong: Members of a two-state regional committee headed by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tinsong, Cabinet Minister De Lamar and Assam Cabinet Minister Piyush Hazarika visited disputed villages on the inter-state border in Ri-Voi. Kamrup district on Saturday.
“Recently, both the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya decided to physically inspect and physically inspect the areas of differences at the interstate state border,” Tinsong told the media.
“We have been able to cover at least six to seven places, Pilankata and Khanapara clusters,” Tinsong said, adding that another area of the inter-state border will be jointly inspected this month.
Both Tinsong and Hazarika told border residents that they were only on a visit and would submit reports to their respective chief ministers, and that the decision would be taken at the level of “highest officials”, the chief ministers of the two neighboring states.
Both of them headed the cabinet level committees of their respective states to visit the villages of Mawang, Barapathar, Pillangkata A, B, Maikhuli, Patharkuchi, Pahmkinsoh and Khanapara.

He added that the decision to visit was taken after a recent meeting of the two regional committees held at the divided Taj Hotel in Guwahati, where the land deed was verified.
A meeting was also held between the officials of the two states led by Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Sniavalong Dhar and Assam Cabinet Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari at Ratchera in East Jaintia Hills district to discuss the border dispute.
