Mizoram record dive in one-day Covid-19 Cases
Aizawl, Oct 18 (PTI) Mizoram on Monday reported 249 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest in two months, taking the tally of the infected to 1,12,84, while three fresh deaths followed. The number increased to 386. An official of the Health Department gave this information.
On Sunday, the state had recorded 948 new cases and 932 infections a day earlier.
According to the official, the one-day tally on Monday is usually less as several testing centers, including the RT-PCR laboratory at Joram Medical College (ZMC), remain closed on Sundays.
Mizoram, however, has been recording less than 1000 cases of infections a day in the last four days, bringing some relief to the administration and the people.
The official said that 1,389 people have recovered from the disease since Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,00,829.
The average positivity rate is 12.62 percent and the recovery rate is 89.34 percent.
Of the 249 fresh cases – 145 were reported in Aizawl, 30 in Serchhip and 20 in Saitual.
At least 58 of the newly infected are children.
According to the state’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP), over 12.22 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, of which 2,464 samples were tested on Sunday.
