Nepal Army Chief to be honored with the title with General of Indian Army during India visit
Kathmandu: Nepal Army Chief General Prabhu Ram Sharma on Tuesday left for New Delhi on a four-day visit to India at the official invitation of Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.

During his visit to India, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Sharma is to be conferred with the honorary ‘General of the Indian Army’ by the President of India, reported Khabarhud.
“According to the Directorate of Public Relations of NA, President of India Ram Nath Kovind will confer the title on him on November 10. The presentation of the title of Honorary General to the Army Chiefs of each country by Nepal and India remains a unique military tradition,” Newspaper stated in the report.
Sharma is also scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart Naravane and other senior officers of the Indian Army during the visit.
In September, Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari honored the acting Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Prabhu Ram Sharma, with the rank of General.
An alumnus of the National Defense College in India, General Sharma holds a Master’s degree in History from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and a Master’s degree in Philosophy in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras.
Born on 5 January 1964 in Kathmandu, General Sharma is a graduate of the Nepalese Army Academy, who was commissioned into the Purano Gorakh Battalion, one of the oldest infantry battalions of the Nepalese Army.

He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Nepalese Army in 1984.
He completed his Company Command and Staff Course from Nepalese Army War College (1988–89) and Command and Staff Officers Course from Army Command and Staff College (1996–97) Nepal. Also, he has completed Technical Officer (TO) course from India.
