Four NLFT militants surrender with weapons in Tripura
They also deposited a revolver, a factory made gun, a Chinese grenade, 4 bullets and 800 Bangladeshi taka before the police.
Four militants of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered to the police together with arms and ammunition on Friday, two weeks after the surrender of three cadres of the militant outfit.
The 4 have been identified as Doberam Reang (47), Shailendra Reang (22), Subhalal Tripura (22) and Samprai Debbarma. They also surrendered weapons including a revolver, a factory-made gun, a Chinese grenade, 4 bullets, three pieces of NLFT assortment receipt and 800 Bangladeshi taka. Doberam and Shailendra are from North Tripura district, while Samprai are from West Tripura and Subhalal Dhalai. He had joined the NLFT camp in Rangamati, Bangladesh in 2019.
According to a press launch issued by the Tripura Police, “… Frustrated by the current plight of the NLFT group and the fixed stress/motivation of the Tripura Police, they’ve to surrender the trail of militancy.”
The NLFT was shaped in 1989 with the goal of waging an armed rebellion for a sovereign Tripura. The group was banned under the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act and then under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) in 1997.
