No immediate plan yet to reopen schools in Manipur: Rajen
On Thursday, Manipur Education Minister S Rajen said there were no plans to reopen schools and other educational institutions for the time being. He was speaking to reporters to clear up news reports that said some private schools had reopened in the two hill districts of the state, while schools in the valley districts were not allowed to reopen.
The report alleged that there are two sets of systems, one for the hill districts and the other for the valley districts.
Mr Rajen said: “We have closed schools because of the Kovid-19 epidemic. There is no instruction to open a new school. We have written to the Home Department in this regard as the department is instructing us to ‘go ahead’. ”
The schools have been closed since the beginning of this year.
He added that there is no vaccine for children under the age of 18. In the case of new infections among school children, it will create problems, he said.
Students are being promoted as no examination has been held. Sources said private schools in Manipur were instructed not to reopen without specific government approval. The hill districts reported that the schools were not reopened on Thursday as per the new directives of the state government.

Meanwhile, returning students from almost all states are trying to enroll in government schools because their parents are concerned about the threat of the virus.
