Number of accidents has reduced significantly on New Year, says CM
GUWAHATI: This year the number of casualties due to accidents on New Year’s Eve has come down significantly.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this on Sunday (January 1).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the number of people who died in road accidents on New Year’s Eve this year has come down from 15 last year to 5.
Assam Chief Minister said that the drop in the number of casualties due to road accidents in Assam on New Year’s Eve can be attributed to the strict monitoring by the authorities across the state.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he is hopeful that the death toll due to road accidents in the state will become zero in the next few years.
Notably, only five deaths due to accidents were reported from across Assam on New Year’s Eve this year.
Whereas, three people died in Assam’s Cachar district while one person each died in Golaghat and Dhemaji districts of the state.
