Property worth crores burnt due to fire in Assam
RANGIA: A fire in Rangia town in Assam’s Kamrup (rural) district has burnt down several houses and commercial establishments and is estimated to have destroyed property worth crores of rupees, an official said on Friday. No one was injured in the blaze on Thursday night, he said.
During the Diwali celebrations, a fire broke out near the city’s Mrityunjaya Shiva temple on Thursday night, engulfing several houses, shops and godowns.
Eight fire tenders were able to bring the fire under control after more than two hours with the help of local people, officials said.
He said property worth crores of rupees had been burnt to ashes in the fire, though the cause of the fire was not yet known.
