Russia says drone strike Hits Crimean naval headquarters
Russia said on Sunday that a drone strike wounded six personnel at its Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Crimea, as officials in Ukraine’s southern city of Mykolaiv said it was facing “the strongest” firepower of the war. Had to do
AFP journalists witnessed an intense bombardment in the eastern city of Bakhmut after President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a late-night address to leave the Donetsk region that was bearing the brunt of the Kremlin invasion.
Russian officials in Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula – seized by Moscow from Ukraine in 2014 – said a small explosive device from a commercial drone could potentially hit the naval command in the city of Sevastopol.

The local mayor blamed “Ukrainian nationalists” for the attack, which forced the cancellation of festivities in the city, celebrating Russia’s annual holiday Navy.
But a spokesman for the military administration for Ukraine’s Odessa region denied Kyiv – whose closest position is about 200 kilometers (125 miles) away – called the incident “an intense provocation”.
“Our liberation of Crimea from occupation will be carried out in another way and more effectively,” spokesman Sergei Brachuk wrote on Telegram.
Authorities in Ukraine’s southern city of Mykolaiv said Sunday that widespread Russian bombings killed at least two civilians overnight, as Moscow continued to hit the vast front line.
“Mykolaiv suffered massive shelling today. Probably the strongest ever,” city mayor Oleksandr Senkevich wrote on Telegram.
“The sound of powerful explosions was heard after one o’clock in the morning and around five in the morning.”

Mykolaiv – which has been attacked frequently – is the closest Ukrainian city to the Southern Front where Kyiv forces are looking to launch a major counter-offensive to retake territory lost after Russia’s February invasion.
Zelensky urges Donetsk evacuation
There were also attacks in the northeastern regions of Kharkiv and Sumy, near the front lines with Russian forces.
Igor Terekhov, mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, said: “Today there was a whole series of explosions … some buildings were reportedly damaged.”
Sumi’s regional chief Dimitro Zayvitsky said that one person was killed and two were injured in about 50 attacks on Saturday evening.
The governor of the Donetsk region, where Moscow is the focus of most of its attacks, said on Saturday three civilians were killed and eight wounded in the shelling.

Zelensky warned in an overnight address that thousands of people, including children, were still on the battlefields of the Donetsk region.
“There is already a government decision regarding the mandatory evacuation from Donetsk,” Zelensky said, underlining the call of the authorities to leave the besieged area in recent weeks.
“Leave, we’ll help,” said Zelensky. “At this stage of the war, terror is Russia’s main weapon.”
Official Ukrainian estimates put the number of citizens living in the uninhabited area of Donetsk at between 200,000 and 220,000.
