Russian army launches strikes in many parts of Ukraine
Russia’s defense ministry said on Saturday that its forces had launched attacks on Ukrainian targets in several parts of Ukraine, and accused Kyiv of shelling near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
According to the ministry, Russian forces carried out their attacks in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, stating that Ukrainian forces had launched an unsuccessful offensive near Pravdne in Kherson.

According to the ministry, radiation levels at Zaporizhia, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, remain normal. It said two incidents of shelling from the Ukrainian side were recorded near the plant on Saturday.
A spokesman for Ukraine’s foreign ministry denied that Ukrainian forces had opened fire near the facility in the south of the country.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of shelling the Zaporizhzhya plant. The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency passed a resolution on Thursday calling on Russia to end its occupation of the facility.
Alexey Kulemzin, the mayor of the eastern Ukraine city of Donetsk, which is controlled by pro-Russian separatists, said on Telegram that four people had been killed in shelling in the central part of the city. Kulemzin said fragments of shells from a French-made Caesar howitzer were found.

The TASS news agency meanwhile, citing local officials in Russia’s Belgorod region, said one person had been killed in the Ukrainian shelling.
Reuters was not immediately able to verify the battlefield reports.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian forces have retaken territory previously occupied by Russian forces in the northeastern Kharkiv region. To the east and south there, Russia has concentrated forces for months in Luhansk and Donetsk provinces to expand territory held by Moscow-backed separatists since 2014.
