Shared on Twitter, the clip shows streaks of white lighting up the night sky as they fell across the region. “There are a number of videos showing what appears to be incendiary munitions being used in Donetsk tonight,” wrote Rob Lee, a Russian defense policy strategist at the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, in the caption while I shared the video.

Incendiary weapons contain flammable materials that can set objects on fire or cause burns or respiratory injuries to people.

Fires produced by or ignited by the weapon itself are difficult to contain. Incendiary weapons are often described as “area weapons” since they can impact a wide region.
