Schools for classes 9 to 12 will reopen in Manipur
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren announced on Tuesday that schools that had been closed since the beginning of this year in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic would soon be reopened. Students in Class Nine and above will be allowed to attend physical classes. Classes could resume in a week, Mr. Biren said.
He said that although the COVID-19 situation is better, the fight against the disease is not over and all departments need to be vigilant and follow the SOPs.
Mr. Biren was speaking at the inaugural function of the Chief Minister’s Coaching Class Center for the Civil Service Examination in Imphal. He said students interested in civil service exams now do not have to go anywhere else for coaching classes. More than 2,000 students applied for coaching classes, but only 200 were selected.
Education Minister S Rajen, who was present on the occasion, said that classrooms and residential quarters would also be constructed soon so that teachers and students could stay on campus. He said land has been acquired near Imphal and construction work will start soon.

Although schools in Manipur were not allowed to reopen, the report said some private schools were already open in the hill districts. Mr. Biren warned against going against the policy of the government.
