Sikkim declared as India’s first fully vaccinated state : Report 9 Oct 2021
Sikkim has been declared as the first fully immunized state in India, where 100 percent of the population has received the first dose of vaccine and 74 percent of the population has received the second dose.
On an average, 9,12,325 people have been vaccinated so far. Health workers, frontline workers, 45 years and above, all categories from 18 to 44 years were well taken care of. Apart from this, 4770 doses were provided to the Indian Army.
The Sikkim government took aggressive steps to ensure the welfare of its people. The vaccination campaign was taken very seriously. A team of senior officials and members of the health department was put together to monitor the vaccination status daily.
The top priority was to vaccinate the maximum possible population. The members collectively worked towards immunizing the entire Sikkim and with proper planning and teamwork achieved this in no time.
The Sikkim government received 11, 32, 740 doses of the Kovidshield vaccine from the Government of India, of which the balance amount is 1,78,390 at Universal Immunization Program (UIP) stores. Presently, the stock in East is 36,640, West – 25,670, North – 7,390 and South – 20,090.
