New horrors revealed in ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 trailer
A new trailer for Stranger Things Season 4 dropped Tuesday morning, leaving fans with many questions about what will be in store when Netflix begins streaming the show on May 27.
Originally titled Montauk during development, the series was inspired by the legends surrounding Camp Hero and the so-called Montauk Project, before it was relocated to the now famous Hawkins, Indiana.
According to the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer (aka The Duffer Brothers), Season 4 will be split into two parts leading up to the final chapter in Season 5.

The season 4 synopsis via Netflix says, “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins.
Struggling with the consequences, our group of friends is estranged for the first time — and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier.
In this most vulnerable time, a new and terrifying supernatural threat emerges, posing a gruesome mystery that, if solved, could finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down. ,
Tuesday’s trailer, which tells us that “Every Ending Is a Beginning,” offered a lot to unpack, but a few key points stood out:
First, the season takes place in three main locations – California, Russia and Hawkins – with three connected storylines. Four places if we include the upside down.

Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) still doesn’t have her powers, and continues to grapple with her traumatic past.
With the rest of the gang trying to move on in school, Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) is clearly becoming more popular as a member of the basketball team. Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) looks utterly unhappy as he and Dustin Henderson (Gateon Matarazzo) watch a happy, confident Lucas at his game.
Veteran horror actor Robert Englund, who became legend for his portrayal of Freddie Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street films, has joined the cast as assassin Victor Krell, who is portrayed as a timid old man at 2:43. (And possibly the bigger, upside-down-dwelling, tentacle-attached Bad Man shown in the trailer’s final moments).

Meanwhile, Krell’s creepy, boarded-up house seems central to everything—and the teens pay it a visit, which recalls scenes from IT, which also stars Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler).
This new Upside Down creature, which appears at the end of this trailer, follows the Demogorgon, the villain of Season 1, and the Mind Flayer in Season 3. Will she be the last evil the gang to face, or is this just one more step in Season 5 for the final big evil?
Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser) recruits Eleven, who he says is the only hope of winning the war against the evil Upside Down, but, as noted, she reveals that her powers have been exhausted.
On the other hand, Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) might have some new powers of his own! We see her swimming in the graveyard, much to the shock of Lucas, Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Dustin who is with her.

Jim Hopper (David Harbour) finds himself in a Russian Gulag, either fighting against other prisoners or joining forces to escape and/or fight Demodog in prison.
Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), who has moved to California with her family, receives a package from Russia, possibly from Jim, and may actually get on a plane to find her with Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman). , as they watch when they crash into a snowy forest at 2:45 p.m.
And there’s a new, super-metal Dungeon Master character who appears later in the Upside Down slathered on guitar — we have a lot of questions about this guy. Did you notice the figure of the Russian building behind it at 2:30?

These observations certainly scratch the surface of this jam-packed trailer that promises the most epic season of Stranger Things ever. The Duffer Brothers had deadline that the scope would be greatly expanded and the episodes would be longer than ever.
Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1 will premiere on Netflix on May 27, followed by Season 4, Volume 2 on July 1. The show will end after Season 5, although the Duffer Brothers say this is not the end of the Stranger Things franchise. They plan to create new Stranger Things stories with different characters in the future.
