The first passenger train engine arrived in manipur

As part of the trial run of the first passenger train, an engine arrived at the newly constructed Khangshang railway station in Manipur’s Noni district on Monday. The first freight train arrives in the hill town two months ago in January.
Officers led by Sandeep Sharma, chief engineer of the North-East Frontier Railway, traveled about 62 kilometers by engine from Jiribam to Khangshang via Rani Guidinliu (Kaimai) and Thingu railway station.

In a tweet, caretaker Chief Minister N Biren Singh shared a video of women performing a traditional dance at Khangsang railway station. “Another milestone, I am happy to announce that an engine has arrived at Khongsang Railway Station today. The 111-km-long Imphal-Jiribam railway line, to be constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 14,322 crore, will be completed by December next year. It will have 11 stations across five districts of Manipur. The project will connect Imphal to the country’s board gauge network. It involves the construction of hilly terrain and about 63 km of tunnels, the longest of which is 10.28 km.
Under the project, the world’s highest bridge ghat is also being constructed near Nani Khumji. The 141-meter-high bridge will cross the 139-meter Mala-Rijeka viaduct in Montenegro.
