The Meghalaya cabinet has approved the addition of a new district to the state
With the formation of the new district, Mairang is now a subdivision under the Western Khasi Hills.
Meghalaya is going to be a state. Get a new district after the cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to upgrade the Myrang Civil Sub-Division to a full-fledged district. The new district will be named East-West Khasi Hill District, Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tyneson said.
With the formation of the new district, Mairang is now a subdivision under the Western Khasi Hills.
“The cabinet today approved a proposal to upgrade the Myrang Civil Sub-Division to a full-fledged district. I am happy to announce that the new district will be named Eastern West Khasi Hills and will be inaugurated on November 10, 2021,” Conrad Sangma said on Twitter.
When asked about the expenditure for the new district, Tynsong said the government has instructed the concerned department to prepare all the details, and this will be reflected in next year’s state budget.

The creation of new districts will ensure that the administration will be closer to the people and the implementation of various plans will be more effective.
