Two minor girls were killed in a road accident in Dhubri
Guwahati: Two schoolgirls were killed when a stationary truck and a couple of motorcycles collided head-on in Dhubri district of West Assam on their way to their school to attend the 74th Republic Day celebrations.
Five others were seriously injured in the incident. The incident took place on Thursday morning on busy GTB Road in Dhubri city.
The accident occurred when the vehicle (AS-17-J-5224) was traveling from Dhubri town to Gauripur.
Bystanders soon sprung into action to rescue the injured. The injured were rushed to Dhubri Medical College in critical condition.
However, doctors pronounced two girls, Nirmali Roy, 16, and Shivangi Roy, 14, dead.
Four others, Ryan Hussain, Zahidul Haque, Riya Saha, Jennifer Hussain and Maidul Islam, are currently being treated at the hospital and their condition is said to be critical.
