US Confirms US Volunteer Fighter Was Killed Fighting With Ukraine’s Military
The United States State Department has confirmed the death of an American “volunteer fighter” in war-torn Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian offensive. On Friday, August 26, a US State Department spokesperson told Newsweek, “We can confirm the death of a US citizen in Ukraine” and added, “Out of respect for the family’s privacy, at this time we have no other No comment.”
Meanwhile, a Russian official claimed that an American volunteering to defend Ukraine was killed by the Russian military.

Indicating the fight, he said Russian volunteers “did not hesitate and repulsed the attack,” Newsweek reported. However, the local governor made no mention of the time or place in Ukraine where the American was reportedly killed.
It is noteworthy that so far at least six Americans have been killed while fighting Russia in Ukraine. Also, in the month of July, American citizens Luke Luczyn and Brian Young, along with two Canadians and two Swedes, volunteered to fight against Russian troops in Ukraine.
The governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, said on his Telegram channel that members of the Primorsky “Tiger” detachment had killed a 24-year-old American soldier in battle and presented his American passport and a Ukrainian military card as evidence.
According to documents provided by Kozhemyako, the man was born in Tennessee and joined the Ukrainian Army on July 24 with the A344 military unit.

US mercenaries killed by Russian forces in Ukraine
Kozhemyako wrote in the post, “An American mercenary has been destroyed in Ukraine. And this is in the first skirmish immediately after reaching the front line!” According to him, “Tiger” volunteers were approached by a group of trained foreign mercenaries fighting for the Ukrainian army.
They were killed on 18 July when a Russian tank attacked them, according to their Ukrainian commander, Ruslan Miroshnichenko, who posted the news on Facebook.
Additionally, two more Americans were killed fighting in Ukraine, 22-year-old Willy Joseph Cancel, who was killed in combat in April, and Stefan Zabylsky, 52, who was killed in May in the town of Dorozhnyanka, Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Russian military said it had attacked a military train near Chaplin that was carrying Ukrainian troops and military hardware to the front lines in the Donbass. In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Chaplin was hit by an Iskander missile and destroyed more than 200 reserve members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the eastern Donbass region and “10 units of military equipment en route to the war zone.” According to the Associated Press report, which includes Donetsk and Luhansk provinces.
