Youth killed 2 others continuously injured in mob attack in Assam Jorhat
Three children were attacked by a mob of more than 50 people, leading to the death of Animesh Bhuyan. He also served as the President of All Assam Students Union (AASU).
On Monday, a youth was beaten to death by a mob in a heinous case of moral observance in Jorhat. The youth was a resident of Khumtai in Golaghat area of Assam.
Animesh Bhuyan, 30, has been identified as a deceased youth. The incident took place at a pickup stop in Jorhat’s downtown area.
As per reports, Brahmaputra Anchalik Chhatra Sanstha (Golaghat Unit) Education Secretary Animesh Bhuyan, along with Mridusmant Barua (local TV channel journalist) and another youth (identity unknown) visited Jorhat for official duties.
According to the AASU leader (Jorhat unit), they were attacked hours later by the mob, who thought they were involved in an accident, which they were not.
As a result, Jorhat Police reached the spot and took the injured to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) in critical condition; Still, the doctors declared AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan brought dead.

Further, AASU has requested Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to investigate the situation and arrest all the criminals within 24 hours. The incident has also been criticized by the Assam Jatiyatwadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP).

The tragedy, which took place throughout the day, sparked outrage with many criticizing the government, which failed to protect it. In addition, student organizations resolved to intensify the protest by imposing a “complete shutdown” in Jorhat district.
