Zelenskyy slams crazy Russian tactics
According to President Zelensky, Ukrainian troops have captured two eastern cities – Avdivka and Bakhmut.
“The madness of the Russian command” is visible in Bakhmut, where artillery strikes are unreliable, he said in his nightly address.

Ukraine has deployed more troops along the Belarus border to counter possible attacks.
Ukrainian troops are standing up against repeated attacks near two major cities in the eastern Donbass region, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday, calling the Russian strategy “crazy”.
Zelensky also said in the evening’s video address that good news would come from the front, but gave no details.
He said the worst fighting is taking place near Avdivka, outside Donetsk and in the northeast near Bakhmut.
He said, “This is where the insanity of the Russian command is most evident. Day after day, for months, they are driving people to their deaths, focusing on artillery strikes of the highest level.” ”
Russian forces have repeatedly tried to seize Bakhmut, which sits on a main road that leads to the Ukrainian-held cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

Zelensky’s adviser, Oleksey Erestovich, said on Tuesday that on one particular day, the Russians attacked Bakhmut eight times before lunch and were pushed back each time.
Zelensky did not mention what was happening near the southern city of Kherson, which is occupied by pro-Moscow forces. Ukrainian soldiers say they expect a tough fight there.
“In general, we are all consolidating our positions on the front lines, reducing the aggressors’ capabilities, destroying their logistics, and preparing good news for Ukraine,” he said.
Separately, Russian-established officials in Shkhtarsk, east of Donetsk, said Ukrainian shelling had set ablaze fuel tanks at the city’s train station.
Ukrainian forces, some armed with artillery supplied by the United States and other allies, have systematically opened up Russian fuel and ammunition bases and railway lines.
Zelensky also said that in the latest prisoner exchange between the two sides, 10 Ukrainians were freed.
